Hawaii Beach Pula: The Ultimate Guide [2023]
Looking for the most comprehensive guide on Hawaii Beach Pula? I’ve got you covered!
As one of the most popular beaches near the ancient city of Pula, Hawaii Beach offers a mesmerizing blend of natural beauty and captivating experiences. Whether you travel to Croatia often or are curious to learn more about one of the country’s most gorgeous beaches, this ultimate guide will provide you with all the essential information you need to make the most of your visit to Hawaii Beach.
As someone that has been living in Croatia since 2015, I’ve traveled all over the country in search of the best destinations and beaches. In June 2023, I had the pleasure of visiting Hawaii Beach in Pula for the first time, allowing me to gather the most recent and up-to-date information to share with you.
Situated south Pula’s Old Town, Hawaii Beach has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the most sought-after beach destinations in the region. This pebble beach offers a unique blend of breathtaking natural landscapes, convenient amenities, exciting outdoor activities, and plenty of nearby accommodation options to choose from – all of which I’ll cover in this blog post.
Now let’s dive into the ultimate guide to Hawaii Beach Pula!
Hawaii Beach Pula: All You Need to Know
About the Beach
Hawaii Beach in Pula is considered to be one of the most stunning beaches in the area. This small strand boasts a unique landscape featuring a pebble cove adorned by round white stones. The beach gently slopes into the sea, encompassed by boulders and extraordinary rock formations that add to its natural beauty.
The water at Hawaii Beach is exceptionally clear, making it a spectacular spot for snorkeling and spotting oncoming sharks in the Adriatic Sea. The sea dazzles with mesmerizing hues of turquoise, which can be best seen while exploring the coast on a transparent kayak that can be rented right near the beach
Interestingly, the beach derived its name from its big waves, compared to the likes of those found in Hawaii. However, it’s worth noting that the Adriatic Sea, typically doesn’t produce substantial waves unless there is a big storm. While the name pays homage to the massive waves in Hawaii, the Adriatic Sea is much more tame. Nonetheless, the allure of Hawaii Beach lies in its serene charm and picturesque surroundings rather than powerful surf.
Amenities at Hawaii Beach Pula
Hawaii Beach in Pula offers a wide range of amenities, making it a perfect destination for beachgoers seeking convenience and entertainment. With four hotels surrounding the beach, visitors have easy access to various services and facilities.
For those looking for a quick bite or refreshment, there is a snack bar conveniently located just above the beach. Additionally, several restaurants can be found in the vicinity, catering to different tastes and preferences. From casual spots serving barbecue or Croatian pizza to a fine dining restaurant, visitors have plenty of dining options to choose from.
Families with children will find an array of kid-friendly activities available at Hawaii Beach like the nearby aquarium or children’s park situated just above the beach.
Sports enthusiasts can make use of the nearby sport center, which features volleyball and tennis courts. Bike and scooter rentals are also available, allowing visitors to explore the area and enjoy scenic rides along the coastline.
Between Hawaii Beach and the Park Plaza Arena Pula hotel, there are beautifully landscaped grounds. Hotel guests can take advantage of the sun loungers underneath the pine trees, while non-hotel guests are welcome to lay their towels out and relax on the grass.
Where is Hawaii Beach Pula
Hawaii Beach is located in Istria, just 4.7 kilometers (3 miles) away from Pula’s Old Town. It is on the western side of the Punta Verudela peninsula just beneath the Park Plaza Verudela Resort. View Hawaii Beach Pula on the map below to get a better idea of where it is located.
When is the Best Time to Visit
If a beach holiday is what you’re after, then the best time to visit Hawaii Beach is definitely during the summertime. Temperatures during the months of June, July and August can rise up to 30°C (86°F), but due to the location of this beach, there is usually a nice breeze.
Another factor to consider is the sea temperature. If you enjoy swimming and water activities, the sea is warmest in the summer months, making it more enjoyable to spend time in the water. The water temperature can range from around 23°C (73°F) in June to 26°C (79°F) in August.
Due to the crystal clear water and proximity to Pula, Hawaii Beach can get pretty busy in the summer. If you prefer a quieter and more relaxed experience, you may want to visit during the shoulder seasons, such as late spring or early autumn. During these times, the weather is still pleasant, but the beach is generally less crowded.
However, the weather can be unpredictable during these times, so there’s no guarantee you’ll have perfect beach weather. It’s always a good idea to check the weather forecast before planning your trip.
How to get to Hawaii Beach
Getting to Hawaii Beach is fairly easy. First, you’ll need to get to the Verudela Peninsula and follow the signs for the hotel Park Plaza Verudela Resort. This will lead you to the hotel’s parking lot, however, just before the hotel parking lot’s entrance is a free parking area.
After parking your car in the free lot, walk toward Park Plaza Verudela Resort. Once you reach it, turn left down the path toward the Garden Suites, and you’ll soon see a sign that reads “Hawaii Beach” (or Havajska Plaza). Continue down the paved path, passing by the beautifully maintained lawn dotted with sun beds, and you’ll reach the top of the beach. The walk from the parking lot to Hawaii Beach is only about 5 minutes.
From there, go to the right and follow the steps leading down to the beach. You will have to wade through a small, shallow section of water at the bottom of the stairs to get to the actual beach.
Alternatively, if you are not staying on the Verudela peninsula, you can reach Hawaii Beach via public transportation. Pulapromet provides transportation between Pula City Center and Park Plaza Verudela Pula every 20 minutes. The bus station is located just outside of the parking lot and only 5 minutes walking distance from Hawaii Beach.
The main bus station in Pula is located at Trg I istarske brigade. You can view the bus schedule here.
Parking at Hawaii Beach
As mentioned above, there is free parking available near the beach. This is the Google Map location you can use to reach it. The entrance to this lot is right before the entrance to the hotel parking lot.
Of course, if you are staying at one of the hotels on the peninsula, you will have access to the hotel parking lot. However, the distance to the beach is similar from both lots.
