As an avid traveler who has spent nearly her entire life exploring Croatia (and beyond), I’ve learned the value of top travel resources. There are countless times I’ve traveled abroad and wished I would have known about certain travel essentials, the best travel credit cards for my trip, and the best place to look for deals on flights.
It’s way easier to plan your trip when you have a list of the top travel resources in front of you! That’s why I’ve put together all of the resources I use and love to make sure your next trip is stress free.
Best Accommodation Resources
Booking.com – always my go to when looking for accommodation anywhere. This is also the number one website to search for accommodation in Croatia!
Airbnb – another great option for finding unique accommodations in Croatia. Check out this blog post on the best Airbnbs in Croatia to get inspired.
HostelWorld – a fantastic resource for finding awesome hostels around the world.
Hotels.com – get rewarded with a FREE night after every 10 nights you book through Hotels.com.
Transportation
Discover Cars – Discover Cars checks both local and international providers in each destination ensuring you get the cheapest rate.
Skyscanner – the best resource for finding awesome deals on flights.
Flixbus – the best budget option for getting around Europe. Their routes are super well connected and fares start at just $4.99.
RailEurope – traveling Europe by train? Get your European train tickets the fast and easy way with RailEurope.
Omio – compare trains, buses, flights and ferries in one simple search in Europe, USA and Canada.
Rome2Rio – Rome2Rio is a website that helps you figure out how to get from one destination to the next. Plus, it gives you estimates on time and prices.
Day Trips & Tours
Get Your Guide – get tickets to the most popular attractions, book day trips, and walking tours. Perfect for traveling Europe.
Viator – find amazing day trips and tour options around the world! Has the most options for traveling in the United States and beyond.
TripAdvisor – book tours and check reviews for hotels and local restaurants all in one place.
Best Travel Credit Cards
Chase Sapphire Preferred – my favorite credit card for getting started with travel hacking and using points to pay for trips! Sign up to get 60,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 in the first three months. Points are worth 1.5x more when you book flights and hotels through the Chase Travel Portal.
Capital One Venture – my second favorite credit card! Capital One also offers a generous sign up bonus of 60,000 points when you spend $4,000 in the first three months. Plus, get 2 points per dollar spent on all purchases!
Citi ThankYou – this card is underrated, but it’s perfect for traveling between Europe and Asia. They also have a fantastic sign up bonus!
Best Travel Debit Card
Revolut – plan to use the ATM while traveling abroad? You NEED a Revolut card! Revolut is a prepaid debit card that allows you to withdraw cash (and make purchases) abroad without incurring excessive transaction fees. Their mobile app also allows you to manage and hold up to 29 different currencies with no hidden fees. Plus, if your card is stolen while on the road, or the ATM eats it, you don’t have to worry about losing all your money – whatever amount you put on it is the only amount available to use (and you can freeze your card as soon as you notice it’s gone).
Phones & Internet
Airalo – the world’s first eSIM store that allows you to purchase affordable data packages for over 190 countries. Download the app (available on iOS and Android) and purchase your plan before you depart for your trip – this way you’ll have internet as soon as you land!
Surfshark – protect your online data when connecting to public wifi AND stream shows from around the world no matter your location.
Safety Essentials
Safetywing – the best travel insurance available for one-off trips, solo travelers, expats, and digital nomads.
Sending Money Abroad
Wise – a free electronic account that lets you send and receive money in basically every single currency for super low fees. Works better and faster than traditional bank transfers.
Packing Essentials
Away Luggage – my all-time favorite suitcases that make traveling an absolute breeze. I switched over to Away suitcases in 2019 and haven’t looked back since. Their bags are so thoughtfully designed, are incredibly sturdy, and have everything a traveler could need.
Portable Scale – unexpected luggage fees suck. Never pay for overweight luggage again with this portable scale.
LifeStraw Water Bottle – when traveling, I always like to have a portable water bottle with me so that I can fill up on the go. This LifeStraw Water Bottle is my top choice especially when traveling to destinations where the tap water is not safe to drink.. Its built-in filter removes 99.9% of waterborne bacteria so that you can stay hydrated and not worry about getting sick.
International Adapter – This Ceptics adapter covers every single possible plug you will ever encounter. Buy it once and never look back!
