Power Outlets in Croatia: Do You Need an Adapter in 2025?

Are you wondering “What plug adapter do I need for Croatia?” or “What are the electrical outlets in Croatia?” — then this ultimate guide to power outlets in Croatia is for YOU!

I’ve been living in Croatia since 2014 (and traveling to the country my entire life) so I’m very familiar with electrical outlets in Croatia. Plus, since I buy a lot of my tech in the states, I’ve become a pro when it comes to power adapters and converters to make sure my gear doesn’t fry when I plug them in.

In this guide, I’ll be sharing everything you need to know about electrical outlets and voltage in Croatia.

What electrical outlets are used in Croatia?

So what plugs are used in Croatia? Croatia uses type F (“Schuko” sockets) electrical outlets, also known as European plugs. Type F electrical outlets are round, with two round shaped pinholes and some have a grounding pin at the bottom.

Type F sockets are the most common in Europe and can be found in many other countries as well.

If you are coming from other European countries (except the UK, Ireland, Malta and Cyprus), you won’t need a power adapter for Croatia.

What adapter do I need for Croatia?

A travel adapter is a small device that adapts to the shape of the outlet, allowing you to charge your electronic devices, such as phones and laptops, while traveling in a foreign country.

In Croatia, you’ll need an adapter that can fit type F sockets.

My go-to adapter for Croatia, or any other destination in the world for that matter, is the Ceptics World Travel Plug Adapter Kit. It comes with plug adapters for every destination in the world, so you can take it with you wherever you go!

It especially comes in handy when combining different destinations into one trip, say Croatia and Malta, who don’t have the same outlets even though they’re both in Europe.

This adapter has saved my life more times than I can count!

It’s not always easy to find a travel adapter in Croatia, and if you do find one, they can be quite expensive. For these reasons, I recommend adding the travel adapter above to your Croatia packing list.

Do I need a voltage converter in Croatia?

The standard voltage in Croatia is 230V with a frequency of 50Hz.

Whether or not you need a voltage converter when plugging your items into a Croatia electrical outlet depends on two things: the voltage requirement of your devices and the country you’re coming from.

If you plan to bring a hair dryer, straightener, or other devices that do not operate on 220V/50Hz, make sure to bring a voltage converter. You can usually find the max voltage listed on your device (or the device’s charger).

It’s important to check your particular device’s specifications before plugging it into a Croatian outlet to avoid any potential damage.

Since unexpected issues can arise (as they often do when traveling), I recommend packing the voltage converter below just in case!
