1. Broom44

Overlooking the bustling stalls of Dolac, Zagreb’s oldest farmer’s market, Broom44 is one of the most popular spots among locals for brunch.

Vegetarian and vegan-friendly, this brunch restaurant gets its ingredients fresh from the market everyday. You’ll find classic items on the menu like omelettes and avocado toast alongside more innovative dishes like peach and tomato gazpacho.

Broom44 also serves gourmet coffee in beautiful handmade mugs, made by local artisans, which is always a huge plus in my book!

2. Balance Brunch Bar

Their tableware is absolutely gorgeous, and each of the dishes is beautifully plated. Choose from Eggs Benedict, veggie omelettes, a delicious selection of pastries, and more. To order, you’ll have to go up to the self-service bar, where you can also grab a specialty coffee or freshly squeezed juice.

To reach this spot, you can take buses 226, 201 or 203 from the cathedral.

3. Cynic (100% Vegan Brunch in Zagreb)

Located in Martićeva, my favorite Zagreb neighborhood, Cynic is one of those places that gets the vibe just right.

It’s stylish without trying too hard, with a modern industrial look softened by warm wood, pink details, and high ceilings that make the whole place feel cool and inviting. And the best part for my plant-based friends is that the entire menu is completely vegan.

They run on three menus that shift throughout the day, so the atmosphere changes with it.

Mornings are calm and perfect for easing into the day with a specialty coffee and something simple like a fresh pastry, chia bowl, or avocado toast.

Later on, it turns into a lively neighborhood spot with creative dishes and a fun food lineup that goes way beyond what you’d expect from a fully vegan kitchen. Their twist on lasagne (pictured above) is a standout, and pairs perfectly with their natural wines, craft beers, or one of their playful cocktails.

4. Bistro Fetiš

Located in my favorite neighborhood of Martićeva, Fetiš is a super charming corner bistro with a warm and inviting interior. If you’re dropping in for brunch, they specialize in gluten free breakfast options such as their tasty “egg tortilla” (pictured above) or classic sunny side up eggs on gluten-free toast.

They also have casual outdoor seating where you can sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while people-watching. Bistro Fetiš is very dog friendly (at least 3 dogs came in while I was there for brunch), so you can bring your furry friend to breakfast with you too!

5. SALO

Situated just above the Dolac Market, SALO is a bistro and craft bakery serving whole foods and healthy bites. Using only the freshest ingredients from local suppliers, SALO offers a one-of-a-kind breakfast experience in the heart of Zagreb.

I had the kimchi scrambled eggs on sourdough topped with fresh salad, and it was a wonderfully tasty surprise! I would totally order it again. In addition to eggs, you can pick up freshly baked traditional pastries and homemade yogurt.

6. Al Dente Home

Al Dente Home is the sister spot to the popular pasta place near Cvjetni Trg, but this one leans cozy brunch instead of bowls of tagliatelle. It’s situated on the west side of town, away from the usual city center buzz, so you’ll need to hop on a tram or grab a cab from Zagreb city center to get there. Honestly, the little bit of effort is worth it.

Their menu is small but well thought out, and everything we tried hit the spot. The French toast was the star for me, rich, filling, and exactly the kind of thing you want on a slow weekend morning. Their specialty coffee pairs with it beautifully and makes the whole experience feel complete.

One thing I really appreciate about Al Dente Home is that you can actually reserve a table for brunch, which almost never happens in Zagreb. If you’re tired of waiting in lines or playing the “brunch roulette” game, this place is a breath of fresh air.

7. Eateria

Located on the 7th floor of one of Zagreb’s “skyscrapers,” Eateria is a modern brunch spot with a couple of standout perks.

The first is the view. Since it’s outside the city center and higher up, you get a beautiful look at Zagreb with Medvednica Mountain in the background.

The menu is also more unique than most brunch places in town. They lean into traditional Zagreb and Zagorje dishes like uštípci, štrukli, and a Slavonian-style eggs Benedict, which you won’t see on many other brunch menus.

Brunch also comes with bottomless cocktails, including mimosas, bellinis, Bloody Marys, and a house cocktail inspired by local flavors.

One more thing I love: you can reserve a table, which is rare for brunch in Zagreb. If you want good food, no waiting, and a view, Eateria is a solid pick.

8. Boogie Lab

Boogie Lab is hip spot in town that has become a favorite among locals. The interior is super inviting and elegant, with a beautiful bar and art deco style furnishings.

The atmosphere at Boogie Lab is always lively and energetic, with people coming and going to grab brunch, lunch, and cocktails in the evening. It’s one of my go-to spots now for pastries, and a place that I love taking friends when they visit me in Zagreb!

Boogie Lab is usually pretty busy, so be prepared to wait for a seat.

9. Melt

Tucked away from the busy streets of Zagreb, Melt is a cozy cafe that serves a delicious brunch.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy fluffy blueberry pancakes, classic eggs and bacon, or a healthy granola bowl.

Melt also serves specialty coffee from one of my favorite Zagreb cafes and coffee roasters, Cogito.

10. 201 Studio

201 Studio is one of the most unique spots in Zagreb, mixing food, coffee, and flowers in a way that just works.

The menu is small, seasonal, and always changing, with ingredients sourced from local farms and small Croatian producers. Their specialty coffee is excellent too, made with beans from Lively Roasters.

What makes this place interesting is that it’s not strictly a brunch spot or a restaurant. In the morning you can grab a coffee to go or stay for breakfast, and later you can pop in for a soup, a sandwich, or something light. You can come alone, meet friends, or swing by for one of their wine evenings or cooking workshops.

In the back room they also put together beautiful rustic bouquets and wreaths using fresh and dried flowers that you can actually buy.

11. Eggspress

Hidden away in an unassuming alley right off of Vlaška Street, Eggspress is the only brunch place in Zagreb that specializes in egg dishes. I had the Eggs Royale, which is a traditional Eggs Benedict but with smoked salmon, and let me tell you, it was absolutely divine.

Vegans and vegetarians will also be happy to find tofu scramble and granola bowls on the menu.

Overall, if you love a savory breakfast, Eggspress hits the spot for a leisurely brunch on a lazy weekend morning. Just know that the portions are generous, so come hungry!

12. SOI Fusion

If it looks closed when you arrive, don’t be alarmed. Just walk straight through the entrance to Swanky Monkey and up the stairs to the outdoor terrace and you’ll see them serving brunch (Mondays through Saturdays).

My go-to is the labneh, which is served with a poached egg and buttery naan. Some other yummy items on the menu include the Hong Kong French Toast and the oven pancake served with fried chicken. All in all, this is a great spot for a casual brunch date or catching up with friends.

13. Figa Garden by Henrik

In addition to Jerusalem bagels, Figa also offers a variety of cakes and sandwiches to compliment your specialty coffee or tea.

One thing I love about Figa is the cozy and welcoming vibe that you feel as soon as you step onto the terrace – like coming over to a friend’s house!

14. Marelica Art Latte

This is a newer Zagreb brunch spot situated not too far from Zrinjevac Park. With only inside-seating, this cute cafe has a really lovely interior with bright and airy decor and rattan chairs.

Marelica serves all day brunch, pastries, freshly pressed juices, smoothies, and energy shots. They are also one of the only places in Zagreb that offers a ceremonial tea experience, complete with a tea pot, hourglass, and the meticulously measured tea to water ratio.

ROOTS is a cool, casual hangout for cocktails in the evening, but in the A.M. they serve breakfast. The menu is filled with delicious items made with fresh, local ingredients, like shakshuka, a variety of sandwiches, oatmeals, and smoothie bowls.

As soon as you step inside this cozy restaurant, you can feel its laid-back atmosphere thanks to its arched brick ceilings. ROOTS also has a patio right next to the funicular that is a great place to relax with friends or family over some tasty drinks and bites.

16. Otto&Frank

You can find it on the pedestrian-only section of Old Vlaška Street. They’ve got a lovely patio where you can sit and enjoy your breakfast outdoors.

18. SquareONE

If you’re searching for bottomless brunch in Zagreb, then this is your spot! SquareONE is the only Zagreb brunch place that does bottomless mimosas for €7 on Saturdays along with any dish you order.

A few brunch menu highlights include Eggs Benedict (my favorite), mini waffles, and their club sandwich served with sweet potato fries.

19. Darling & Shegrts

Located near Maksimir Park in the Ravnice neighborhood, this Zagreb brunch spot is a true hidden gem. The place itself feels like going to grandma’s house for the weekend, prices are reasonable, and the staff is simply wonderful.

They’ve got omelettes, English breakfast, club sandwiches, and pancakes. Plus, they are kid-friendly, so the entire family can come and enjoy breakfast together! The Zagreb Zoo is nearby, so you can even make a day out of it.

20. Jolie Petite Patisserie

Situated outside of the Zagreb city center near Jarun Lake, this gorgeous cafe offers a charming atmosphere and delicious food to match.

On the brunch menu, you’ll find BLT sandwiches, savory quiches, vegan Cesar Salads, salmon focaccia sandwiches, and other tasty options. If you go for dessert, be sure to try the Nina Mia cake. 😉

All of their bowls are made-to-order, so you can choose everything from the size of the bowl you want to your toppings. It’s a great place to stop by when you need a morning pick-me-up but don’t have time to sit down and eat a full meal.

Korica is an artisan bakery with several locations throughout Zagreb. My go-to is the one in Marticeva – my favorite neighborhood in Zagreb!

They pride themselves on serving bread that is unspoiled by additives and unnecessary mechanical treatment, consisting of only flour, water, yeast, salt, and time. At Korica, you’ll find everything from classic baguettes with perfectly crunchy crusts and soft, airy interiors to irresistible pastries like cruffins (a cross between a croissant and a muffin).

If there’s one thing you should absolutely try from Korica, it is their heavenly almond croissant. 😋

Bread Club burst into Zagreb’s bakery scene with sourdough loaves and pastries that quickly gained a loyal following. The natural fermentation process allows the bread to develop a unique flavor and texture, making it stand out from mass-produced bread in other chain bakeries.

In addition to bread, they also make croissants, cruffins, cookies, and Danish pastries. Personally, I love their Didov kruh (Grandfather’s Bread in Croatian).

24. Kata Brunch Bar 100% Gluten Free

With several locations throughout the city, Noel Bread & Deli is a craft bakery owned by the Michelin star restaurant, Noel.
