Lost Creator Academy Review (2023 Update) + 15% Discount

Maybe you want to take better photos, make better videos, learn how to tell a compelling story, or improve your confidence on camera – these are all things Lost Creator Academy claims to help you do. But is it worth the $799 investment? Keep reading for my honest Lost Creator Academy review.

It was the fall of 2019, and I had been eyeing Lost Creator Academy for a while.

Lost LeBlanc is a creator that I looked up to and had been following his journey for years. I first discovered Christian LeBlanc’s channel when planning a trip to Southeast Asia, and after watching just a few of his videos, I was hooked. I admired his captivating storytelling, confidence on camera, photography composition, and editing abilities. With every video that I watched on the Lost LeBlanc channel, the more I wanted to become a content creator.

So naturally, when Christian LeBlanc launched LCA in February of 2020, I just KNEW I had to get in.

BUT, after seeing the price tag, I have to admit I was hesitant. And if you’re reading this, I’m sure you are too.

Let’s face it – $799 is a lot of money.

This large sum can cover one month’s rent and utilities for many people, and there’s no promise of success. I kept going back and forth for months. I watched the free training, I kept up with the LCA Instagram account, and nearly 8 months later, I cracked. I added LCA to my cart and hit the PLACE ORDER button.

Now that I’ve completed the entire course and have been part of the community for a few years, I’m familiar enough with it that I am confident in my ability to give you a full and honest review.

Lost Creator Academy - the only online course that teaches you how to become a world class content creator and make money from anywhere

If you’ve been dreaming about becoming a full-time Content Creator, Lost Creator Academy will give you every single step you need to make that dream a reality.

I will warn you that Lost Creator Academy does not promise overnight success. The course provides you with rock solid foundations to kickstart your Content Creator career along with the support you need to motivate you to keep going.

But the rest is ON YOU to take that knowledge, implement it, and put in the hard work and dedication to make it happen.

Alright, if you’re not 100% set on the course yet, that’s totally okay. I suggest you keep reading the rest of this post to determine whether or not this is the right decision for you. After all, this is a big decision (and investment), so you need all the facts before taking the plunge.

If you haven’t already, I highly suggest you sign up for the 1-hour free training to get a taste of what you can expect to see inside the course.

Now let’s dive into what Lost Creator Academy is, who it’s for, what it includes, and why I think it’s the best creator course available.

What Is Lost Creator Academy?

If you don’t already know, Lost Creator Academy, also known as LCA, is a course that teaches you everything you need to know about becoming a content creator and how to build a profitable business from it.

The course is packed with over 170 training videos, and is continuously expanding with new videos being added monthly. The course library consists six modules and provides students with in-depth information and tips on how to develop or advance their photography skills to how to land collaborations with brands, and much more.

Whether you’re looking to advance your photography, videography, editing or business skills, Lost Creator Academy teaches you how to thrive as a content creator so that you can pursue a life that allows you to do what you love.

Who Is Lost LeBlanc?

Lost LeBlanc, or Christian LeBlanc, is a YouTuber who quit his 9-5 to chase his dream of becoming a full time content creator. He started his YouTube channel in 2015 with just a GoPro and no previous camera experience, and began documenting his travels through Southeast Asia. Christian’s adventures and incredible storytelling are addicting to watch, which has enabled him to grow into one of the most successful travel YouTubers with over 2 million subscribers today!

Throughout his content creator career, Christian LeBlanc has worked with brands like DJI, Nikon, Air Canada, and has collaborated with some of the world’s most luxurious hotels. It wasn’t until 2020 that Christian launched Lost Creator Academy with the intent of helping other aspiring content creators achieve similar goals.

Now that you know a little bit about Christian and the Lost LeBlanc YouTube channel, let’s dive into who Lost Creator Academy is for.

Who is LCA For?

At first glance, it may seem like LCA is for beginners. But the truth is: LCA is for anybody at any level.

Whether you are a beginner who has never even picked up a camera, or already have experience as a content creator, you can benefit from Lost Creator Academy.

If you are someone who is dying to learn everything there is to know about content creation, then LCA is exactly what you need.

In the course, Christian teaches you the foundations of content creation including choosing the right camera, learning manual photography settings, and how to fly a drone. He teaches you how to edit photos in Lightroom, how to use Photoshop to enhance your photos, how to color-grade videos, how to store your content, how to create eye catching YouTube thumbnails, and more.

He even goes behind the scenes of filming one of his own videos and shares the entire filmmaking process step by step, all the way through post-production.

LCA isn’t just for beginners though. If you’re already a content creator but want to learn additional skills from one of the best creators in the industry, you can get a crazy amount of value from this course too.

You’ll gain access to Christian’s wealth of knowledge about the business side of content creation like how to reach out to and negotiate with brands, how to monetize your skills, how to create your own digital product and launch it, as well as the exact email templates he uses to land collaborations with companies, hotels, and tourism boards.

What’s Inside the Academy?

One thing you should know is that once you purchase Lost Creator Academy, you have lifetime access to the course (and any new content added to it in the future). Currently, there are over 100 videos in LCA, each ranging between 20 and 30 minutes in length. The modules are broken down as follows:

[table id=2 /]

It’s important to note that you do not have to watch all of the videos or modules in any particular order. You are free to skip around if something else catches your eye, and go back to watch the rest of the videos later.

Continuing Education

In addition to lifetime access to the 170+ training videos you get in LCA, new videos are being added every single month. These videos include training from either Christian himself, or other guest creators who share their tips exclusively to the LCA community (as mentioned above in Module 6). Some recent guests include Paris Verra, Lexi Alford (Lexi Limitless), and Brett Conti!

But Can’t I Just Google This Stuff?

I get it.

You might be asking yourself: “Can’t I just Google this stuff?”

Technically, yes – you could do a quick Google search and you might get the answers you’re looking for.

The thing is, how do you know what to search for? I’m sure you could come up with a few topics, but it’s impossible to think of every single thing you need to know as a Content Creator.

You don’t know what you don’t know.

Information about becoming a content creator and how to create a successful business from it is scattered.

Lost Creator Academy organizes everything in a comprehensive and sequential manner so that no information is left behind.

On top of that, Googling wouldn’t give you access to insider knowledge from a successful creator of Christian’s caliber. Not to mention his direct mentorship within the exclusive LCA community (more on that below).

Exclusive Creator Community

One of best parts of LCA, and a totally unexpected one, is the amazing community of creators that you get to connect with. Once you purchase Lost Creator Academy, you are added to the private LCA Facebook Group which (at the time of writing) now has over 4,000 creators from all over the world in it!

The Lost Creator Academy private Facebook group

Although hailing from different countries, every single one of these individuals shares one common interest – and that is content creation. Whether it’s photography, videography, travel, real estate photography, etc. the one thing that binds us together is our passion for creativity.

The life of a content creator can definitely be lonely at times. Shooting, editing, and handling the business side of things by yourself can be isolating. Having a community that understands you and is rooting for you is an incredible feeling. They’re there to support you through the tough times, and to cheer you on when things are going great.

This group offers more than just a sense of community. It also serves as an online space to connect with other like-minded individuals, ask questions, and get constructive feedback from fellow creators (which is way more meaningful than asking a friend or family member who isn’t familiar with content creation).

Individuals in the group have asked (and gotten feedback on) everything including what camera should they upgrade to, what lens is best for landscape photography, which YouTube thumbnail is more eye catching, what’s the creator community like in Bali, how to price services, how to get through customs with a drone, etc.

The group even has even transitioned offline where creators have organized meetups and even collabs! From meeting up in destinations all over the world to meet face to face and create content together, to connecting virtually during monthly online calls, the group is a positive, tight-knit community that is absolutely invaluable.

The community is hands-down my favorite part of Lost Creator Academy – there is just nothing else like it!

More Benefits of Lost Creator Academy

Besides the epic community and the course itself, which is jam-packed with lessons, tutorials, and the exact steps Christian used to succeed as a content creator, there are additional benefits of joining LCA that significantly increase your value for money. Let’s have a look at them:

Social Saturday

Every Saturday, LCA members have the chance to share whatever project it is they have been working on. This can be a photo, a video, Reel, blog post – whatever it is you want to share, you can do it here. Social Saturday offers a great opportunity to share your work and get inspired by other members in the group.

Feedback Friday

Similar to Social Saturday, but this time with direct feedback from Robbie (LCA Group Admin + Expert Content Creator). Robbie then takes a look at each submission and records a video where he provides constructive feedback on selected entries. Feedback Friday provides an additional opportunity to learn new skills and to further develop your creative eye, even if your work isn’t chosen for review.

Edit & Chill Sessions

Edit & Chill Sessions are a dedicated time when anyone who wants to participate gets on a Zoom call and edits photos or videos together. You can also ask questions or get feedback from fellow members during these sessions too.

Coworking Sessions

Similar to Edit & Chill but without Q&As, Coworking Sessions were created to help you get focused on your priority tasks. At the beginning of the session, everyone will share what they are working on and what they plan to achieve during the one-hour session. Then everyone spends the next hour working individually on their projects, and come together again at the end to discuss whether or not they met their goal.

Niche Communities

Because the LCA Facebook Group has grown to such a large amount of members, “Find Your Fam” was created in order to help members find their niche community. Groups are broken up by different categories like location, type of content (ex: Fashion & Lifestyle Creators), and other interest groups like bloggers, YouTubers, etc. You can either join an existing group or if you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can create your own!

Online Workshops

Regular monthly workshops held by LCA members who share their knowledge and skills on a particular topic. This is a great way to learn from your fellow creators. Some previous topics that have been covered include:

  • After Effects
  • Lightroom Tips
  • Moving to Bali
  • Web Design, SEO and Affiliate Marketing Income
  • Wedding Photography
  • How to Work Full Time and Travel
  • Habits for Success
  • FPV Drones
  • Sound Design

…and more! Also, if you can’t attend the live workshop, the recording is always uploaded to the LCA learning platform and shared in the private Facebook Group.

LCA Social

Formerly known as LCA Speed Dating, the LCA Social is a fun event where you are randomly matched with different creators from the group for 5-10 minute sessions so that you can get to know each other better. This is by far the most popular event and it is so much fun getting to know all of the other creators in the group!

Adobe Creative Cloud Discounts

Lost Creator Academy is considered as education, which is why it will allow you to gain access to Adobe Creative Cloud products at a discounted price! The regular price for Adobe Creative Cloud is $54.99, but with LCA, you can get a student discount and receive the same services for $19.99 per month.

All you have to do to get the discount is contact Adobe and let them know you’re a student of Lost Creator Academy (you will need to show proof of purchase for it to be approved). The student price is valid for the entire Adobe Creative Cloud Package, allowing you to access Lightroom, Photoshop, Premier, AfterEffects, and more for just under $20 a month.

Lost Creator House in Bali

Christian recently opened up the first ever Creator House. Unlike hostels and guesthouses, Lost Creator House is a place to stay, collaborate, and grow, and it’s built specifically for creators. Located in Bali, Indonesia, the Lost Creator House provides two accommodation options: a private room for up to 2 people and a private room for up to 6 people.

In addition to beds, the creator house offers a communal workspace where you have the unique opportunity to build your network while surrounded by like-minded dreamers. The community workspace features large co-working tables, a comfy couch, and a private booth for zeroing in on your work. Weekly events are hosted at the villa several times per week to further facilitate connection among the creators staying there.

On top of everything else, the villa also boasts a shared kitchen, outdoor swimming pool and top-of-the-line rooftop gym with sweeping views of the ocean.

Creators who want to stay in the Lost Creator House in Bali must first apply, and can rent a private or communal room for up to one month. Find out more here.

Direct Mentorship

On top of the awesome community, you also get direct mentorship from Christian and the LCA team. They are active in the group every single day answering questions and leaving feedback. Both Christian and his team really make a concerted effort toward ensuring all of LCA’s members receive genuine guidance and support.

Get Brand Deals Through LCA

Christian did something super cool and totally unexpected where he decided to pass along PAID collaboration opportunities that he cannot accept to LCA members. To be considered, all you have to do is fill out a form and share your name, contact info, primary platform, audience size, language you speak, and type of content you produce.

YouTube Accelerator Program

Last, but not least, the YouTube Accelerator program is a course extension available exclusively to LCA members. It is a four-week intensive training program for creators who want to grow their YouTube channel specifically.

The first week is devoted to crafting click-worthy thumbnails and video titles, the second week focuses on developing a good story, the third week is all about video editing, and the fourth week dials in on what to do once your video is published.

The YouTube Accelerator Program is only available at certain times of the year and for an additional fee of $99 (this is on top of the course price). The classes in this program are held once per week and are live, which means you’ll need to ensure you have the time and availability to participate. Due to the nature of the program, it is limited to 100 members, who are divided into smaller groups based on experience and timezone.

Lost Creator Academy Discounts

With a high ticket price of $799, you may be wondering if Christian ever offers discounts for Lost Creator Academy. Below I share two ways I know that you can save some money on LCA:

Lost Creator Academy Black Friday Sale

Every year since the launch of the course, Christian has offered amazing discounts and perks for anyone who signs up during Black Friday. Here are some of the past Black Friday discounts and prizes that were offered for Lost Creator Academy:

  • 30% off the course
  • FREE Lightroom presets for the first 100 people to sign up (these are the presets that Christian created and uses to edit his own photos)
  • FREE creator trip giveaways
  • FREE mentoring

Of course, there is no guarantee that the same discounts and prizes will happen again, or that the course won’t increase and you’ll end up paying the same price you would now.

Lost Creator Academy Coupon Code

Don’t want to wait until the (not guaranteed) Black Friday sale? You can get 15% off the course TODAY by signing up for the FREE Lost Creator Academy Content Creator Training.

To access the discount, you have to complete the full 1-hour training (no, you can’t skip to the end) where Christian walks you through the 10 steps that will take you from beginner to pro. At the very end of the training, a button will appear allowing you to purchase the course at a discounted price.

There is no actual coupon code, but the 15% discount is automatically applied at check out.

Pros & Cons of Lost Creator Academy

Pros of LCACons of LCA
Tight knit community of like-minded creatorsNo notifications when the course is updated (although Christian usually drops a comment in the Facebook Group)
New videos being added by Christian and other creator coachesYou do not get direct access to Christian himself (some members of LCA have expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that they do not get 1:1 feedback from Christian). The reality is that the group is so large that it is impossible for him to respond to every question, but his team does their best to answer.
Collaborations with other LCA membersThe YouTube Accelerator Program (a four week intensive course focused on YouTube) has caused some debate among members. It is offered to members at an additional fee of $99, and some feel that it should be included in the initial price of the course.

The Verdict: Is Lost Creator Academy Worth It?

If you’ve made it all the way to this point, I hope you have a clear picture of what you can expect to get out of LCA.

I was one of those people that was Googling and searching for tutorials on YouTube, but the reality is that you will simply not be able to find such comprehensive information on becoming a full time content creator. You might find bits and pieces, but nothing compares to the comprehensive information and insider-tips available in Lost Creator Academy.

And you most definitely won’t find a creator community like the one in LCA either.

Overall, Lost Creator Academy gives you all of the tools, confidence, and motivation you need to succeed as a Content Creator. I hope this review has helped make your decision to join easier.
